Leaky Faucet Fix |
![]() Step 1 First, remove the cap and unscrew the retaining screw that holds on the handle and pull off the handle. |
![]() Step 2 Next, use a crecent wrench to unscrew the valve. |
![]() Step 3 Once you have removed the valve, check the rubber washer on the underside of the valve for any tears, cracks, or other signs of wear. If there is, unscrew the washer's retaining screw and replace it with the proper washer. |
![]() Step 4 The next thing to check is the valve seat. You'll need a valve seat wrench to remove it. It's a simple metal bar with a 90 degree bend in it. One end has a square end and the other is 6-sided. The valve seat will either be square or hexagonal, so insert the correct end into the valve seat in the faucet and remove it. |
![]() Step 5 Now that the valve seat is out of the faucet, check it for any burrs, dents, or deposit build up that may cause improper sealing with the washer. |
![]() Step 6 If the valve seat is dirty or damaged, replace the valve seat and reinstall it. |
